DESCRIPTION:
E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., "No. 28 Marble Dial" wall clock, with applied front panel including the 12-inch roman numeral dial signed "E. Howard & Co. Boston" and lower glazed section with black and gold leaf decoration, tri-foil steel hands, original white painted case housing the eight day brass movement stamped "E. Howard & Co./Boston/28" with recoil escapement, regulation from case top, evidence of Geneva stop, lead counter weight on intermediate wheel, iron weight cast "59", wooden pendulum rod and brass-faced bob.
CONDITION:
One piece front panel of clock including the dial is a wooden replacement of a once marble component, case white paint is "refreshed", lower section of case showing evidence of weight fall with minor case damage, iron weight and weight baffle are replacements, hands are original, pendulum rod is restored, lacking Geneva stop, period bob with turned decoration and brass pulley.
